"Hello World"     Media: Acrylic on Wood

This is a self portrait where I began to embrace my sexuality, identity, and physical appearance. I was inspired by the 80s punk rock movement, as I adore punk rock, sand dress alternatively. I have always been cautious and self-conscious about what I look like and the clothes I wore, always dressing for others but not for myself. The pin on my jacket is my signature, as I always sign with a wave and moon, as I've always been fascinated and connected to the two. The chains represent me breaking away from the stress of being someone else, and finally being free, and becoming who I always was. Here, I express my style, who I am, accepting myself and gaining confidence. The background is the pansexual flag, which I identity with. I have finally come to be who I am and display that with this painting. I hope to inflict on others, and show lgbtq empowernment through this piece.

"The Glove"   Media: Acrylic on Canvas

Here I paint, myself pealing off my flesh, revealing my bones- what is left within. I am wearing a traditional Mexican blouse. This painting is a statement of my culture and ethnic background. I find that many times, I have to, for some reason, prove myself of being Mexican. I display my pain that I go through, living in the United States, and having others criticize me of my background. Although I have experienced negative remarks, I still come out strong, embracing my culture and traditions, which is why I chose red as the background, symbolizing passion, love, and the blood that connects me with my family and roots.
